Ingredients

3 c. all-purpose flour
2 c. sugar
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. margarine or butter, softened
1 1/2 tsp. anise
2 eggs
Preparation

In a bowl combine flour, sugar and baking powder.
Add milk, margarine and vanilla.
Beat with an electric mixer on low speed until combined.
Beat on high speed for 2 minutes.
Add eggs and beat 2 minutes more.
Pour into 2 greased and floured 9 x 1 1/2-inch round baking pans.
Bake in a 375\u00b0 oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the centers comes out clean.
Cool on wire racks for 10 minutes.
Remove from pans.
Cool thoroughly on racks.
Serves 12.
