Cream shortening; add sugar, molasses, egg and vinegar.
Mix well.
Combine flour, soda, salt and spices and add to molasses mixture.
Shape dough into a ball and knead until smooth.
Chill overnight.
Divide dough.
Roll to 1/4 inch thick on floured surface.
Cut with 4 inch gingerbread cutter and place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 7 minutes.
Makes about 12 gingerbread men.

Cool slightly; remove to rack to cool.

Cut out gingerbread men and remove extra dough. Use raisins for eyes, nose and buttons.
Bake about 8 minutes or until springs back after pressing with finger.
Cool on rack.
Mix all the ingredients.
Chill the dough.
It is easier to handle if the dough is divided into 4 pieces and then chill wrapped in wax paper.
Roll the dough out to a thickness of about 1/4-inch on a well floured board.
Use cookie cutters to make gingerbread men or other shapes.
Bake in a preheated oven to 350\u00b0 for 8 to 15 minutes.
Cookies are done when they begin to turn deep brown.
Combine sugar, butter, molasses and vinegar in saucepan. Bring to a boil and let cool.
Re-sift flour together with baking soda, cinnamon, ginger and salt.
Stir beaten egg into molasses mixture.
Then blend sifted ingredients into molasses mixture. Mix well, then chill dough, covered, in refrigerator.
Break off one-third of the cooled dough; roll out on a lightly floured surface to 1/8-inch thickness.
Cut into gingerbread men.
Place on greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
