Grilled Pike In Newspaper

Season the fish, inside and out, with salt and pepper. Stuff with greens onions, dill and lemon slices. Coat a sheet of parchment paper with oil. Place the fish on top. Wrap the fish then wrap again in the wet newspaper.
Move the coals on a hot grill to one side and place the fish on the other side so that it is not directly over the heat. Grill for about 15-20 mins, turning once.

Newspaper Papier-Mache

In a bucket or bowl, mix water and flour to form a sticky, gooey paste.
Tear newspaper into strips about 1 or 2 inches wide - ragged edges stick together better.
Add strips to paste, a handful at a time.
Squeeze the paste and paper together till the mixture is mushy.
When the mass is slippery and sticks together well, you've got papier-mache.
If it's not slippery, add more paste.

Newspaper Salmon For The Grill!

Season the salmon inside and out with olive oil, salt and pepper and half the herbs.
Place salmon in opened out newspaper.
Scatter over lemons, scallions, the rest of the herbs and fennel seeds, tucking some into the inside of the fish.
Drizzle with a little more oil and wrap the fish in the paper securing tightly with string.
Wet the parcel thoroughly so all the paper is soaked.
Place on grill / campfire for 25 minutes on each side.
Serve with salad.

Paint over the strips if you like.

Combine flour and cold water in bowl.
Add this mixture to 2 cups boiling water in saucepan.
Bring to a boil again.
Remove from heat and stir in sugar.
Let cool.
Will thicken as it cools.
Once it thickens and cools it is ready to use.
Dip newspaper strips in papier mache and take off excess.
Allow to dry several hours, till stiff.

Tear sheets of newspaper into strips about 1-inch wide, tearing down from the fold.
To make papier-mache paste, put the flour in a large bowl.
Add water, a little at a time, stirring until mixture is smooth and creamy.
Dip strips of paper into the paste.
Paste the strips in all directions over the object you want to cover.
Set your papier-mache object in a warm place to dry.
(This may take several days.)
When it has dried completely, paint colorful design on it with tempera paint.

Removal Of Plastic Container Odors

Crumble up old newspaper.
Place into the closed container. Leave paper in the closed container for several days, or as long as it takes for the odor to be gone.

Newspaper Clipping Preservative

Pour the club soda into a large bowl.
Drop the Milk of Magnesia tablet into the club soda and let it sit overnight to dissolve.
Place the cookie sheet on a flat surface, then pour in 1/4 inch of preservative solution.
Place newspaper clippings in liquid and let set until thoroughly saturated.
Remove clippings and lay them out to dry on a flat surface.
Makes 1 quart.
This preservative will prevent any clippings from turning yellow as long as the clipping is kept out of direct sunlight.
