Budget Friendly Chicken Noodle Soup

Saute onion, garlic, carrots and celery in olive oil for about 10 minutes. Add some salt and pepper.
Add 6-8 cups of water (more or less depending on if you want a thick soup or not).
Add drumsticks and bay leaf. Bring to boil, then cook on low for 1 1/2 hours.
Remove drumsticks and shred meat. Place back into pot and bring to boil.
Add pasta of choice - cook until done. If broth isn't strong enough for you, add bullion cubes. Salt and pepper to taste.

Budget-Friendly Homemade Cereal

Heat oven to 350 degrees and spray 10x15 jelly roll pan with butter-flavor Pam. (I also spray both bowls and the spatula I use to mix the cereal, then nothing sticks and clean up is easy.).
In a small bowl, mix together oil, syrup, honey, vanilla, cinnamon and salt. Pour over oats in a large bowl and mix thoroughly.
Spread evenly in the pan, and bake for 10 minutes, stir and bake 9 more minutes. (If you use a dark pan, shorten cooking time by 1 or 2 minutes.).

Taco Seasoning - Budget Friendly Seasoning For Tacos, Burritos..

Mix all spices together.
Store in airtight container. Will keep for 6 months to a year.
7 teaspoons of this spice mix is the equivalent of one 1.25 oz packet of store bought taco seasoning. This recipe makes the equivalent of 4 spice packets.
To make tacos- mix 7 tsp (or 2 T and 1 t) to 1 lb ground meat that has been browned and drained of fat. Add 3/4 cup water and stir to blend. Cook til water has evaporated.

In a skillet brown ground meat. Drain well. Rinse if desired.
Add taco seasoning and follow instructions for that recipe or package.
Set out all the optional toppings you would like and let everyone make their own plate, using whatever toppings they want.

Turkey-Barley-Tomato Soup

Spray Dutch oven (or pot) with nonstick cooking spray or oil. Add ground turkey, carrots, onion, celery, garlic, and 1 Tbls of the taco seasoning mix; cook over medium heat for 10-12 minutes or until turkey is no longer pink and vegetables are tender, stirring frequently.
Stir in water or broth, tomatoes, and remaining taco seasoning mix. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add barley; simmer an additional 15 minutes or until barley is tender.
Stir in oregano and serve with crusty Italian bread.

Cook meat, onion, garlic and cilantro stirring often til meat is no longer pink. Drain fat.
Add seasoning and 3/4 cup water or beer to meat mixture and stir to blend. Only use beer if you like beer! lol You could also use half beer and half water. DH always comes in and adds a glug or two from his can behind my back so I never know exactly how much is in there! grrrr.
Simmer until liquid has evaporated.
