Heavenly Onions - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 large Bermuda onions, sliced
    1/2 lb. Swiss cheese, grated
    8 slices French bread
    1/2 c. milk
    2 to 4 Tbsp. butter
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 can cream of chicken soup (undiluted)
    1 Tbsp. soy sauce
Preparation
    Simmer onions in butter in heavy pan on low until tender and separated.
    Stir constantly.
    Place in a 2-quart casserole. Sprinkle with pepper; top with cheese.
    Heat soup, milk and soy sauce until blended.
    Pour soup mixture over all; stir gently. Butter bread slices on both sides and top casserole, overlapping the slices.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
