Cranberry Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 package fresh cranberries
    1/2 cup water
    1 small package red (any flavor) gelatin dessert mix (i.e, Jello)
    18 large or 180 miniature marshmallows
    1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
    1 c. chopped celery
    1 c. chopped apple (I leave the peel on added color)
    Pecan or walnut halves, for garnish
    Mint leaves, for garnish (optional)
Preparation
    Wash the cranberries, discarding soft or spoiled berries. Drain.
    Put cranberries in large saucepan with 1/2 c. water. Cook and stir over medium heat until cranberries begin to burst. Add Jello and stir until dissolved. Add marshmallows and stir until melted. Remove from heat and cool, but not so long as to allow mixture to gel. When mixture is cool, add chopped nuts, celery and apple. Stir to mix thoroughly. Pour into glass serving bowl. Decorate top with nut halves and/or mint leaves. Cover with plastic wrap and chill for at least 4 hours.
