Fruit And Nut Panforte - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 oz pitted dates, roughly chopped
    8 oz candied cherries, halved
    6 oz toasted almonds
    4 oz dark chocolate, roughly chopped
    1 tbsp mixed spices
    1 tsp ground black pepper
    1 None orange, finely zested
    2/3 cup sugar
    1/3 cup honey
    3 tbsp unsalted butter
    None None powdered sugar, for dusting
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 325\u00b0F. Lightly grease and line base and sides of an 8-inch springform pan. In a bowl, combine dates, cherries, almonds, chocolate, spices and orange zest.
    In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, honey and butter. Heat on medium, stirring, until butter starts to melt. Do not stir again. Bring to a boil and cook 3-5 mins, until a little of the mixture dropped into cold water forms a soft ball when moulded between fingers. Working quickly, pour into bowl with nut mixture and mix well. Pour into prepared pan. Smooth top with a spatula. Bake 10-15 mins. Cool.
    If mixture does not set, chill in fridge. Dust with powdered sugar, cut into wedges and serve with coffee.
