Ingredients

6 None oranges, zest removed with a vegetable peeler, pith cut off, juices reserved
3/4 cup light brown sugar
2 None star anise
1 None small red chili
3 None cinnamon sticks, broken in half
None None Greek yogurt or heavy cream, to serve (optional)
Preparation

In a small saucepan, combine lemon zest, brown sugar, star anise, whole red chili, cinnamon sticks and 1/2 cup water. Heat gently, stirring, until sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil then simmer, without stirring, for 6-8 mins, until syrupy. Discard chili.
Place oranges and reserved juice in a heatproof dish. Cool syrup slightly then pour over oranges. Let cool completely then chill for at least 2 hours, or overnight. Transfer oranges and syrup to serving glasses.
Serve with Greek yogurt or heavy cream, if desired.
