Meat, Potato And Cabbage Pie - cooking recipe

1 3/4 lbs cabbage (about 1/2 large head), roughly sliced
1 lb ground beef or lamb
1 None onion, chopped
1 medium egg, beaten
1 lbs potatoes
2 cups beef or lamb stock
Preparation

Preheat the oven to 325\u00b0F. Blanch the cabbage in boiling water for 1 minute. Drain thoroughly.
Mix together the meat, onion, egg and a little salt and pepper. Slice the potatoes as thinly as possible and scatter half in the base of a shallow ovenproof dish. Layer the cabbage and meat mixture on top and finish with a layer of potatoes. Season with salt and pepper.
Pour the stock on top and cover with foil. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 40-50 minutes until the potatoes are tender and pale golden.
