Festive Pastry Wreath - cooking recipe
Ingredients
-
3/4 cup milk
2 tbsp fresh yeast
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
3 oz ground almonds
1 tbsp butter, softened
1 pinch salt
1/4 cup sugar
1 large egg yolk, beaten and mixed with a little water
4 None decorated chocolate eggs, for decoration
Preparation
-
Heat the milk until lukewarm and dissolve the yeast in it. In a bowl, sift the flour, make a well in the middle and pour in the yeast mixture. Carefully incorporate to form a smooth dough then cover and leave in a warm place for 15 minutes to prove.
Add the almonds, butter, salt and sugar to the dough and knead until smooth. If the dough is too thick add a little warm water and if it is too loose then mix in a little flour. Cover and leave in a warm place for 30 minutes.
Heat oven to 350\u00b0F. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface, shape into a long roll and cut into 4 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a 20 inch long roll and twist each length into a wreath. Place on a lined baking tray, brush with the egg yolk and bake for about 15 minutes until golden brown. Serve with decorated eggs.
