Potato And Onion Gratin - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 tbsp oil
    2 1/4 lb potatoes, peeled, thinly sliced
    1 lb onions, finely sliced
    4.5 oz Cheddar cheese, grated
    1 tbsp butter, diced
    2 tbsp fresh chive snippets
    None None salad, to serve
Preparation
    In a large heavy-bottomed frying pan, heat oil over medium heat. Layer potatoes, onions and cheese alternately in pan, beginning and ending with potato and seasoning between each layer. Reduce heat to low, cover and cook for 20 mins.
    Preheat broiler. Scatter butter over top and broil for 5-10 mins, until browned.
    Slice into wedges, top with chives and fresh ground black pepper. Serve with salad.
