Fish And Chips - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 cups frying oil
    1 2/3 lb baking potatoes, peeled and cut into chips (french fries)
    3/4 cup all-purpose flour
    2/3 cup cornstarch
    1/2 tsp baking powder
    3/4 cup beer
    1 1/4 lb cod fillet, cut into portions
    None None lemon juice or malt vinegar, to serve
Preparation
    Heat the oil in a pot to 300\u00b0F. Add the chips in batches and fry for 3 mins. Remove from the oil and set aside to drain. To make the batter, beat together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder and beer until smooth. Season with 1 tsp salt.
    Heat the oil to 350\u00b0F. Dip the fish portions in the batter then deep-fry for 5 mins. Remove and keep warm. Re-fry the chips for 4 mins. Remove and drain. Season the chips with salt and the fish with lemon juice or vinegar.
