Cabbage, Bacon And Carrot Gratin - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 None cabbage, trimmed, cut into 8 wedges
    12 None small carrots, peeled
    8 slices smoked bacon
    2 tbsp butter or margarine
    2 tbsp all-purpose flour
    3/4 cup heavy cream
    1 None vegetable bouillon cube
    5.25 oz Gouda cheese, grated
    None None fresh chervil, chopped, to garnish
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0F. Cook cabbage in boiling salted water for 8 mins. Cook carrots in boiling salted water about 5 mins until soft. Drain cabbage and carrots. Wrap each cabbage wedge with 1 slice bacon. Arrange in a greased baking dish and place carrots between them.
    Meanwhile, melt butter in a pan, add flour and cook slightly. Add 1 cup water and cream. Bring to a boil, add bouillon cube and simmer 2 mins. Season, add 2 oz grated cheese and stir until melted. Pour over cabbage and carrots and sprinkle remaining cheese over top. Bake for 35 mins. Serve garnished with chervil.
