Apple Cake With Brown Butter Frosting - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/4 cups self-rising flour, sifted
    2 tsp ground cinnamon
    1 1/2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
    2 cups applesauce
    2/3 cup vegetable oil
    2 None large eggs, lightly beaten
    None None Brown Butter Frosting
    1/2 cup butter, chopped
    3 cups powdered sugar
    1/3 cup apple juice
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0F. Grease a deep 8 inch round cake pan and line base with baking paper.
    In a stand mixer, combine flour, cinnamon and sugar. Combine applesauce, oil and eggs then add to dry ingredients and beat until pale. Transfer to prepared pan and bake for 1 hour. Let cake cool in pan for 10 mins then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
    Meanwhile, to make the brown butter frosting, melt butter in a small heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until butter browns and smells nutty then set aside to cool. Strain through a fine mesh sieve into a medium bowl. Reserve 1 tbsp. Add powdered sugar to butter along with 3/4 of the apple juice. Beat until combined. Thin out with remaining apple juice until spreadable.
    Spread frosting over cooled cake. Drizzle reserved brown butter on top just before serving, if desired.
