Potatoes Dauphinoise - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 cups milk
    1 clove garlic, peeled
    2 1/4 lb potatoes, such as Desiree, peeled, thinly sliced
    None None grated or ground nutmeg, to sprinkle
    2 1/2 tbsp butter, cut into pieces
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 375\u00b0F. Butter a shallow baking dish.
    Warm milk and garlic in a small saucepan until just simmering.
    Arrange potato slices in a single layer in base of prepared dish. Season and sprinkle with nutmeg. Repeat layers until all potatoes are used. Pour milk over top then dot with butter. Cover loosely with foil and bake for 1 hour 30 mins, until browned on top and creamy underneath.
    Serve warm.
