Ingredients

2 None onions, chopped
4 None apples, peeled, cored, chopped
4 None pears, peeled, cored, chopped
2 cups malt vinegar
6 oz pitted dates, chopped
1 1/4 cups sugar
2 oz dried cranberries
2 oz raisins
1 tsp mustard powder
1 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
None None crusty bread, ham, pickled onions, salad and Cheddar cheese, to serve
Preparation

Place onions in a large saucepan with 1/2 cup water. Bring to a boil on high. Reduce heat. Simmer for 10-15 mins, until onion is tender. Add apples and pears. Simmer for 10-15 more mins, stirring occasionally, until liquid has thickened slightly and fruit is tender. Stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 25-30 mins, until thick. Remove from heat and cool 10 mins.
Serve with crusty bread, ham, pickled onions, salad and Cheddar cheese or pour into warm sterilized jars and seal immediately. Store jars in a cool, dry place and chill once opened.
