Plum And Almond Cake - cooking recipe

9 tbsp butter, chopped, at room temperature
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 None eggs
1/4 cup ground almonds
3/4 cup self-raising flour, sifted
7 None plums, stoned, quartered
1 tbsp brown sugar
None None whipped cream, to serve
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0F. Lightly grease an 8 x 12 inch baking pan. Line with baking paper, extending 1 inch over the two long sides.
In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat the butter, sugar and vanilla together until pale and creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Lightly fold in almonds and flour. Spoon batter into pan, smoothing top.
Scatter over the plums and brown sugar. Bake for 40 minutes. Serve with whipped cream.
