Ingredients
-
3/4 cup dried pitted dates
1 None orange, juiced
1 tbsp brown sugar
3 None ripe pears, cored, peeled and sliced
1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
1 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar
None None Powdered sugar and whipped cream or ice cream, to serve
Preparation
-
Preheat the oven to 400\u00b0F. Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
Place dates, orange juice, 1/2 cup water and brown sugar in a small saucepan on high heat. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and simmer for 3-4 mins, until mixture thickens. Transfer to a large bowl. Set aside to cool. Stir pears into date mixture.
Place pastry sheet on prepared pan. Spoon filling onto pastry, spreading to leave a 3/4 inch border on opposite sides. Carefully fold both sides into the center, overlapping slightly, and press to seal.
Place seam-side down on pan. Score slits down the pastry at 1/2 inch intervals. Seal ends with a fork. Sprinkle with granulated sugar.
Bake 20-25 mins, until pastry is puffed and golden. Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar and accompanied with whipped cream or ice cream.
