Strawberry And Vanilla Layered Jell-O - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 cups sliced ripe strawberries, plus 5 whole ripe strawberries for garnish
1 (6 oz) package strawberry flavored Jell-O
1 (1/4 oz) package unflavored powdered gelatin
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Preparation

In a food processor, puree strawberries until smooth. Set aside.
Whisk together strawberry Jell-O and 2 1/2 cups boiling water. Stir in 1 cup cold water and strawberry puree. Reserve 1 cup strawberry mixture at room temperature. Transfer remaining mixture to a 6-cup gelatin mold.
Bloom unflavored gelatin in 3 tbsp cold water for 5 mins. Transfer to a small saucepan along with milk and sugar. Gently heat until gelatin melts then remove from heat and let cool for 5 mins. Whisk into sour cream along with vanilla. Pour over strawberry Jell-O and chill for 1 hour, or until set. Spoon reserved strawberry mixture over sour cream layer. Chill for 4 hours, or until firm.
Unmold gelatin and garnish with strawberries.
