Chocolate Hazelnut Bars - cooking recipe

7 oz chocolate wafer cookies
4 tbsp (1/2 stick) butter, melted
4 None egg whites
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup ground hazelnuts
2 tbsp flour

8 tbsp (1 stick) butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
4 None egg yolks
1 tbsp orange flavored liqueur, such as Grand Marnier
7 oz semi-sweet chocolate, melted
Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350\u00b0F. Grease and line a 12 x 8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, extending paper above long sides for handles.
Process cookies until finely crushed. Combine 1 cup of the cookie crumbs with butter in a medium bowl. Press crumb mixture into bottom of prepared pan. Refrigerate for 10 mins.
Meanwhile, beat the egg whites in a medium bowl with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar, beating until dissolved between additions. Fold in ground hazelnuts, remaining cookie crumbs and sifted flour. Spread mixture over cookie crust.
Bake 20 mins or until firm. Cool 20 mins. Reduce oven temperature to 325\u00b0F.
For the topping, beat butter, sugar, egg yolks and liqueur in a medium bowl with electric mixer until the sugar is dissolved. Fold in melted chocolate. Spread topping over dessert.
Bake for about 15 mins or until set. Cool in pan. Refrigerate until firm.
