Old Country Apple Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 None apples, peeled, cored and halved
    2 tbsp lemon juice
    9 tbsp butter or margarine
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/2 None vanilla pod, with the seeds scraped out
    1 pinch salt
    2 None eggs
    1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
    1 tsp baking powder
    1 oz sliced almonds
    1 tbsp apricot jam
    1 tbsp powdered sugar
    None None whipped cream, to serve
Preparation
    Sprinkle the apple halves with lemon juice. Preheat the oven to 325\u00b0F. Mix the butter, sugar, vanilla seeds and salt with a hand mixer. Stir in the eggs one at a time and fold in the flour and baking powder a bit at a time. Pour the mixture into a greased 10 inch diameter springform cake pan, smooth and evenly distribute the apples on top. Sprinkle with almonds and bake for 40-45 mins. Cool on a wire rack.
    Heat the jam to melt. Brush the apple halves with the warm jam, remove the cake from the pan and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve with whipped cream.
