Apple Cream Cake - cooking recipe

4 tbsp sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

1 3/4 cups self-rising flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
1/2 cup sugar
2 None large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp lemon zest
3/4 cup sour cream, at room temperature
1 None large apple, peeled, cored, halved, thinly sliced
None None powdered sugar, for dusting
Preparation

Preheat oven to 375\u00b0F. Grease and line an 8 inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
Combine sugar, cinnamon and walnuts in a small bowl. Set aside.
To make the cake batter, sift together flour, baking soda and a pinch of salt. In a stand mixer, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well between additions. Add vanilla and lemon zest. Fold in dry ingredients alternately with sour cream.
Transfer 1/2 the batter to prepared pan. Arrange sliced apple evenly over top then sprinkle 1/2 the walnut mixture. Top with remaining batter then sprinkle with remaining walnut mixture. Bake for 1 hour, rotating pan after 35 mins. Let cool in pan for 10 mins then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Dust cooled cake with powdered sugar. Serve sliced.
