Raisin Scones - cooking recipe

2 1/4 cups self-rising flour
2 1/2 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup raisins
1 None egg, lightly beaten
3/4 cup milk, plus extra for glazing

Preheat oven to 425\u00b0F. Line a scone tray or baking tray with parchment paper.
Sift flour and a pinch of salt into a large bowl. Cut in butter then add sugar and raisins. Make a well in the center and mix in beaten egg and milk until just combined. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured work surface and knead until smooth. Press into a 3/4 inch thick disc.
Cut dough into rounds using a floured 2 inch cutter. Place close together, but not touching, on prepared tray and brush with extra milk. Bake for 10-12 mins, or until golden brown.
