Apple Pie With Cloves - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 cups cold butter, cubed
    3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    None None Apple Pie
    2 lb cooking apples, such as Bramley, peeled, cored, sliced
    1/2 cup granulated sugar
    6 None whole cloves
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 400\u00b0F.
    To make the pie dough, in a mixing bowl or food processor, cut butter into flour until mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add just enough cold water so that when you squeeze the dough with your hand, it holds together (around 1/2 cup). Turn out onto a clean work surface and squeeze into a big ball. Do not knead. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 30 mins.
    Roll 2/3 of dough out into 1/4 inch thick disc. Use to line a 10 inch pie dish, leaving any extra dough hanging over edges. Sprinkle a handful of sugar over pie dough then stir remaining into apples. Add cloves to apples and toss to combine. Transfer to pie shell.
    Roll out remaining dough into to a 1/4 inch thick disc large enough to cover the top of the pie. Gently lay over filling and press firmly around rim to seal edges. Trim off excess dough with a serrated knife. Crimp sides, or press them with the tines of a fork. Cut a cross in the top to allow steam to escape. Transfer the pie dish to a baking tray and bake for 45-50 mins, until golden brown.
    Serve warm or cold.
