1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
7 tbsp butter, chopped
1/2 cup granulated sugar, plus 1 tbsp
1/3 cup chopped dates
1/3 cup sultanas
1/2 cup milk
1 None egg, lightly beaten
Preparation

Preheat oven to 400\u00b0F. Lightly grease and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
Sift flour, baking powder and spices into a bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Stir in sugar, dates and raisins. Mix in milk and egg until soft and sticky. Place heaped tablespoonfuls of mixture on tray and bake for 12-15 mins, until golden brown. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
