Gamma D'S Boiled Spice Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 cup sugar
1 cup raisins
1 cup cold water
1/2 cup shortening
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon clove
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Place sugar, raisins, water, shortening, cinnamon, and cloves in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
Boil for 5 minutes and remove from heat.
Immediately add flour, baking soda, salt and stir in.
Pour into a 8\"x8\" pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Prep time includes the boiling.
