Bushnell Brown Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

8 cups white flour
8 cups whole wheat flour
1/4 cup lard
1/4 cup sugar
4 -5 tablespoons salt
1/2 cup molasses
2 -3 cups lukewarm water
2 (4 tablespoon) envelopes dry yeast
Preparation

Proof the yeast in 1 cup of warm water for 10 minutes.
Cut the lard into the dry ingregients.
Make a well and add the yeast mixture and molasses.
Add the water a little at a time until you have a pliable dough.
Knead on a lightly floured board for several minutes.
Allow to rise until double, placing in a greased covered bowl.
Form into loaves and place in greased bread loaf pans.
Allow to rise until doubled.
Bake 300F for 1 hour.
