Mr. Food'S Date Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 cups dates, pitted and chopped
    2/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
    1/2 cup honey
    2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
    1 cup very hot water
    1 egg, beaten
    2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    2 cups all-purpose flour
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 cup chopped walnuts
Preparation
    In a large bowl, combine dates, sugar, honey, and butter; add hot water, stir and let stand for 15 minutes.
    Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
    Stir egg and vanilla into date mixture.
    In a separate bowl, combine remaining ingredients.
    Stir the flour mixture into the date mixture.
    Pour batter into a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan.
    Bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
    Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and let cool completely on a wire rack.
