Cordon Bleu Style Chicken Strips - cooking recipe

1 1/2 lbs chicken tenders
6 slices deli ham, smoked, cut in half lengthwise
0.5 (13 2/3 ounce) package baby swiss Cheez-It crackers, crushed into coarse crumbs
1 egg
1 tablespoon water
pepper
Preparation

Preheat oven to 400\u00b0F.
Spray a large rimmed baking sheet with no-stick spray, or line with no-stick foil.
Place egg & water in a shallow dish, blend with fork until well mixed.
Place cracker crumbs in another shallow dish and stir in pepper.
Wrap each chicken strip with a half piece of ham, secure with toothpick if needed.
6. Roll in cracker crumbs, then in egg mixture, then again in cracker crumbs.
Place on cookie sheet.
Bake 15-25 minutes, turning halfway through. Chicken should register 165\u00b0 on instant read thermometer.
