Chile Verde (Green Chile Sauce) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 tablespoon shortening
    1/2 cup chopped onion
    2 tablespoons flour
    1 cup chopped green chili, to taste
    1 cup chicken broth or 2 cups tomatoes, with liquid
    1/4 teaspoon garlic powder or 1 -2 garlic clove
    3/4 teaspoon salt
Preparation
    Heat shortening in medium-sized skillet on medium heat.
    Saute the onions in shortening.
    Add flour and cook for 1 minute.
    Add all remaining ingredients and simmer for 20 minutes.
