Stovetop Maple Sugar Baked Beans - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 teaspoon canola oil
    1 small onion, finely chopped
    1/2 cup tomato sauce
    1/4 cup sugar-free maple syrup
    1/4 cup Splenda sugar substitute
    1 tablespoon molasses
    2 teaspoons yellow mustard
    1 teaspoon vinegar
    4 -5 drops liquid smoke (more if desired)
    30 ounces pinto beans, drained and rinsed (you can vary the beans if you choose)
Preparation
    In a large saucepan heat oil, add onions, and saute` for 3-4 minutes until softened slightly. Add remaining ingredients and stir.
    Simmer on low for 25-30 minutes.
