Ingredients

2 lbs raw peanuts, in shell (green ones are best but hard to find up north)
water, about 4 quarts
2 tablespoons cayenne pepper
1/4 cup crushed red pepper flakes
6 -10 whole black peppercorns
6 garlic cloves, peeled left whole
1/4 cup salt (kosher is best)
Preparation

Add all ingredients to a large pot
stir well.
set on high heat to boil.
once boiling reduce heat to a low simmer
simmer until soft usually about 3 hours stir occasionally.
