Garlicky Yellow Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
    1 1/2 cups onions, chopped
    1 3/4 cups long-grain rice, uncooked
    6 garlic cloves, crushed
    3 3/4 cups water
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon turmeric
    1/2 teaspoon pepper
    green onion (optional)
Preparation
    Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.
    Add onion, and saute 7 minutes or until tender.
    Add rice and garlic; saute 2 minutes.
    Add water and next 3 ingredients; bring to a boil.
    Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 23 minutes or until liquid is absorbed.
    Garnish with green onion tops, if desired.
