Eastern European Kompot(Bulgaria) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    10 cups water
    3/4 - 1 cup sugar
3/4 cup dried prune, pitted, quartered
    1 cup blueberries (optional)
    4 ounces raisins (or currants-about 3/4 cup)
3 -4 ounces dried apricots, quartered (about 1/2 cup)
    4 -8 cups ice
Preparation
Bring 10 cups of water to a boil.
    Wash all the fresh fruit.
When the water starts to boil, carefully add all the fruit and bring water back to a boil.
Lower heat to medium low and let the mixture simmer for 35-45 minutes, uncovered.
Remove from heat and stir in 3/4-1 cup of sugar, to taste.
Let kompot cool completely, strain off the juice and refrigerate. Serve chilled with ice.
Make your kompot as light or strong as you want, by adding more water if you want it lighter. Just be sure to add a few pieces of fruit on the bottom.
    Note:
You can eat the fruit after straining. It's good! Or puree, and maybe use in making a cake.
