Ingredients

1 1/2 cups sugar
3 cups water
1 1/2 tablespoons grated lemon rind
1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
2 (750 ml) bottles champagne
Preparation

Mix together all the ingredients until well combined.
Transfer mixture to the freezer can of a 1-gallon electic ice cream freezer.
Freeze according to the manufacturer's directions.
Ripen for 1 hour.
