Black-Eyed Susans - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 lbs pitted dates
1 lb pecan halves
1 lb sharp cheddar cheese, room temperature and grated
1 cup margarine, softened
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, but I recommend it) (optional)
1/2 cup sugar
Preparation

Stuff dates with pecan halves. Set aside.
Cream the cheese and the margarine together well. Add flour, salt, and cayenne pepper. Mix well. (Note: this dough should be very stiff.).
Put mixture into cookie press with the box plate attached. Squeeze out in long strips.
Cut long strips into 2 -3 inch pieces. Wrap these pieces around pecan-stuffed dates.
Roll in sugar and place on a cookie sheet.
Bake at 300 degrees F until light brown.
