Louie Jane'S Gooseberry Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 (15 ounce) cans gooseberries
    1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
    2 tablespoons flour
    1 pinch baking soda
    1/8 teaspoon salt
    5 tablespoons heavy whipping cream or 5 tablespoons evaporated milk
    butter or margarine
    1 pastry for double-crust pie
    Caramel Icing
    1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine, melted
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1/4 cup milk
    2 cups powdered sugar
Preparation
    1. Mix the first 6 ingredients and pour into pie shell.
    2. Dot with butter or margarine; add top pie pastry.
    3. Bake at 300\u00b0F until crust is golden brown, about an hour as ovens vary.
    4. Make Caramel Icing by melting 1/4 cup butter or margarine in a saucepan.
    5. Add 1/2 cup brown sugar; bring to boil and stir for 1 minute.
    6. Cool slightly.
    7. Add 1/4 cup milk and beat until smooth.
    8. Add 2 cups powdered sugar and beat until smooth.
    9. Pour over top of pie and let cool.
