Granny'S Chicken Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 tablespoons butter
    1/2 cup celery, chopped
    1/2 cup onion, diced
    1/2 cup bell pepper, diced
    4 -5 cups chopped cooked chicken
    6 slices white bread, cubed (we prefer wheat bread)
    1 cup milk
    1/2 cup mayonnaise
    10 1/2 ounces cream of mushroom soup (I use Specialty Soup Substitutes - Cream)
    1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
    salt, to taste
    pepper, to taste
Preparation
    Melt butter in a large skillet. Add celery, onion, and bell pepper; saute' until softened.
    Combine with remaining ingredients, mixing well. Add salt and pepper, to taste.
    Dump into 13x9\" dish. Top with additional cheese, if desired.
    Bake at 350* for 35-45 minutes.
