Minty Middle Treasures - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/4 cup brown sugar
    1/4 cup shortening
    1/4 cup butter
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla
    1 egg
    1 2/3 cups self-rising flour
    18 -20 Andes mints candies
    powdered sugar or cocoa, for dusting
Preparation
    Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
    Beat sugars, shortening, butter, vanilla and egg in a small bowl. Stir in flour.
    Shape 1 tablespoons of dough around one mint. Place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
    Bake 9-10 minutes or until just golden brown.
    Roll in powdered sugar or cocoa and store in an air-tight container.
