Cabbage And Onion Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head cabbage, shredded
    2 large onions, thinly sliced and separated into rings
    1 cup sugar
    1 cup vinegar
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon celery seed
    1 teaspoon dry mustard
    1/4 teaspoon pepper
    1 cup salad oil
Preparation
    Alternate layering cabbage and onions in a bowl, with onions for the top layer.
    Combine sugar, vinegar, salt, celery seeds, mustard and pepper in a saucepan.
    Bring to a boil.
    Remove from heat, add salad oil.
    Drip hot mixture over the cabbage and onions, do not stir.
    Cover and refrigerate for 24 hours.
