Almond Caudle - cooking recipe

2 cups ground almonds
2 cups ale
1 cup water
1/4 teaspoon saffron
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup toasted breadcrumb
1 cup currants
Preparation

Bring almonds, ale and water to boil in a large pot. Reduce heat and simmer 30 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and simmer 10 minutes longer, stirring occasionally.
