South Carolina Bread Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 slices sandwich bread, torn
    1/4 cup butter, melted (optional)
    2 cups evaporated milk
    2 large eggs, lightly beaten
    6 tablespoons granulated sugar
    1/2 cup raisins
    1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional) or 1/2 cup walnuts (optional)
    1 (8 ounce) can fruit cocktail, drained
    1 teaspoon cinnamon (or to taste)
    1 teaspoon vanilla (or to taste)
    1/4 teaspoon salt
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350*F and lightly grease an 8x8 baking dish.
    Mix bread and other ingredients in a large bowl until well-combined.
    Pour into baking dish and bake for approximately 45 minutes - 55 minutes. Check at the 45 minute mark.
    Cool to room temperature and serve plain or with hard sauce, lemon, vanilla or caramel sauce. Refrigerate leftovers. Tastes better the next day.
