Spice Cake With Caramel Frosting - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/4 cups cake flour, sifted
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
    3/4 teaspoon baking soda
    1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
    1/16 teaspoon pepper
    3/4 cup shortening
    1 cup sugar
    3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
    3 eggs
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1 cup buttermilk or 1 cup sour milk
    Caramel Frosting
    1/2 cup butter
    3 cups powdered sugar, sifted
    1 cup brown sugar, packed
    4 tablespoons cream
    1 teaspoon vanilla
Preparation
    Sift together dry ingredients.
    Cream together shortening and sugars until fluffy.
    Add vanilla and then eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each egg.
    Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk.
    Beat 2-3 minutes using high speed of mixer.
    Pour into 2 greased and floured 8-in. pans.
    Bake in 350 degree oven 25-30 minutes.
    Frost when cool.
    Caramel Frosting:
    Melt butter in saucepan then add brown sugar and cook over low heat 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
    Add cream and continue stirring until mixture comes to a boil.
    Remove from heat.
    Gradually blend in powdered sugar and vanilla.
    (Add extra cream if needed.).
