Crock Pot Swiss Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lbs boneless beef round steak, trimmed and cut into 6 pieces
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon pepper
    2 tablespoons oil
    1 1/4 lbs small red potatoes, quartered
    1 1/2 cups fresh baby carrots
    1 onion, sliced
    1 (14 1/2 ounce) can Italian-style diced tomatoes, undrained
    1 (12 ounce) jar prepared beef gravy
Preparation
    Season beef on both sides with salt and pepper.
    Brown beef on both sides in oil in skillet.
    Place beef in the bottom of the crock pot.
    Top beef with vegetables.
    Stir together tomatoes with their juice, and the gravy.
    Pour tomato/gravy mixture over all.
    Cook on low for 7-9 hours.
