Lemon Hard Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 cup butter
    1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
    2 tablespoons lemon juice
    1 dash salt
    1 cup sugar
    1 egg
Preparation
    Cream butter and salt.
    Add egg sugar and cream until fluffy.
    Add egg and beat rapidly until well blended.
    Gradually add lemon juice and rind and continue beating.
    Cook until thickened.
    This a nice topping for most any steamed pudding.
