Strawberry Short Cake... With A Couple Of Twists. - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (9 inch) vanilla sponge cakes, cut into 9 equal squares
    2 lbs fresh strawberries, cut in quarters
    4 tablespoons sugar
    1/2 cup lemon curd (or make your own)
    cracked black pepper
    1 cup heavy cream, whipped
Preparation
    Cut the cake squares in half. So that you are able to build sort of a sandwich.
    In a large bowl add strawberries and sugar. Stir.
    Let sit 5 minutes. Then season with cracked black pepper. ( i know this sounds odd -- but it's delicious).
    To assemble the cake:
    One layer of cake, topped with a spoon full of lemon curd.
    Top that with a generous helping of the strawberry mixture.
    Topped with whipped cream.
    Topped with second layer of cake.
    Topped with more strawberry and more cream.
