Jewish Apple Cake Ala Grossinger'S - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    6 tablespoons sugar
    1/2 cup unsalted butter
    1 large egg
    1/4 cup milk
    6 apples
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
    Spray 9x9 glass pan with nonstick spray and set aside.
    Sift flour, salt, baking powder and 3Tb of sugar into a bowl.
    Mix in 1/2 ( 1/4 cup ) of the butter.
    Beat the egg and milk together, then add.
    Mix all well.
    Pour the batter ( it will be thick) into the prepared pan.
    Peel and slice apples-then place over batter.
    Sprinkle with cinnamon and the other 3 TB. sugar.
    Melt the remaining butter and pour over top.
    Bake for 35 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
