Ingredients

4 c. flour
1 c. sugar
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg, grated
2 eggs, well beaten
milk (about 3/4 c.)
Preparation

Mix and sift dry ingredients; add eggs and milk.
Remove from fat with a 2 tined fork and pass quickly through water kept at the boiling point.
Wipe fork each time before putting into fat. Makes 30 to 36 doughnuts.
