Swiss Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    2 lb. round steak, cut 1-inch thick
    2 Tbsp. Crisco
    1 (8 oz.) can tomatoes
    1/2 c. minced onion
    1/4 c. minced bell pepper
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Mix flour, salt and pepper.
    Sprinkle one side of meat with 1/2 of flour and pound in.
    Turn meat and repeat with remaining flour.
    Cut meat into 6 pieces.
    Brown meat in Crisco in heavy skillet.
    Cover tightly and simmer about 1 hour.
    Add water, if needed.
    Mix remaining ingredients.
    Pour over meat.
    Cover and simmer about 30 minutes or until tender.
    Good over rice or potatoes.
