Swiss Treats - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 C. Shortening
    1 1\\4 C. Sugar
    1 Egg, large
    1 tsp. Vanilla
    2 1\\4 C. Flour, sifted
    1 1\\2 tsp. Baking Powder
    1\\2 tsp. Salt
    1\\2 C. Nuts. chopped
    1\\2 C. Maraschino Cherries, chopped
    1\\2 C. Coconut, grated
    6 oz. Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bits
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar.
    In seperate bowl, beat egg, add vanilla.
    Add to creamed mixture.
    Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
    Add to mixture, stir well.
    Batter will be thick, don't worry.
    Add all remaining ingredients.
    Grease 16x11-inch pan.
    Spread dough in pan evenly.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 20 min.
    Let cool a while, then cut into squares.
